What are they + why do I need them?

Dreams are what you personally want your life to look like. They can be a lifestyle, a job/profession, a hobby, a new home etc... Dreams are important as they fulfil your heart's desires, and they create an end goal for you to work towards. They make your life meaningful to you and more vibrant, exciting, and enjoyable. Dreams remind you why you are alive and what it is you are constantly working towards.

My honest experience with dreams

Personally, dreams have helped me turn my life around, and pursuing them has changed my life forever. There were times when I didn’t understand why things weren’t working out or why things seemed so hard, but I realised that this is a part of dreaming. There will be unavoidable lows to this journey and dark times but what I can say is that if you plan for them, their toll won’t be nearly as great. Unfortunately, 1 year into pursuing my dreams I began struggling and to this day it was the darkest point in my life, a point I only recovered from through God. I wouldn’t wish anyone to go through the same that’s why I say be prepared for the worse times in any way you can. Ultimately, it is all worth it & I wouldn’t change a thing about pursuing my dreams.

How do I find out what my dreams are?

For me, it took literally just sitting there in silence, deeply thinking about what I really wanted in life. What really makes me happy? What would I want to happen in my life? Who would I want to be? It took hours for me to note down 5 dreams from my heart and even after that I continued to tweak them in places and shape them. Goal setting is key to dreams too as goals are the stepping stones to dreams. Your dreams can be anything, maybe after pondering you find that really it’s your dream to just be healthy mentally and heal. Your dream may be to retire your parents or to set up a business or become an athlete. All of these are possible with the right discipline and drive.
